Dr. S. Ayyappan Nair, M.A., M.Ed., is an educationist with over 53 years of dedicated service in the field of education, guided by his belief that he is a “teacher by choice, not by chance” and that “no child should be left behind.”
He began his career in 1963 as a civilian teacher for the Indian Army, training newly recruited Jawans after the Indo-China war. This unique opportunity laid the foundation for his lifelong passion for teaching. In 1966, Dr. Nair joined Kendriya Vidyalaya, Malleswaram, Bangalore, as a founder teacher and went on to serve the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) for 40 years in various capacities, including Primary Teacher, Trained Graduate Teacher, Post Graduate Teacher, and Principal.
His exceptional service earned him a two-year extension after his retirement in 2005, along with the prestigious National Award for Teachers, conferred by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, then President of India.
In 2006, Dr. Nair was invited by Padmabhushan Dr. Sri Sri Sri Balagangadharanatha Swamiji to establish BGS National Public School (BGS NPS) in Bangalore. Starting with just 150 students, he oversaw its growth to over 4,300 students and 215 teachers, eventually becoming the Academic Director for the BGS Group of Institutions.
Under his leadership, BGS NPS was ranked among the Top 10 Global Schools by Oracle Education Foundation and recognized as Karnataka’s top CBSE school by Education World. Dr. Nair has traveled extensively, attended international workshops, and contributed to NCERT and CBSE initiatives.
He has received numerous accolades, including the NCERT Innovation Award, Best International Principal Award, multiple Lifetime Achievement Awards, and an Honorary Doctorate from the University of South America. Today, his students serve across the world, including in the IAS, IPS, IRS, NASA, and the United Nations, making his legacy a true testament to transformative education.
Sri Acharya Ajit Kumar is a renowned life teacher, mentor, and social reformer, serving as the Chairman of VDM – India on the Move (VDM-IOM), a non-governmental organization he founded in 1993 with its headquarters in Hyderabad. Over the past three decades, VDM-IOM has grown to have five active chapters across India: Hyderabad (Telangana), Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), Bengaluru (Karnataka), Gurugram (Haryana), and Jaipur (Rajasthan). Under his visionary leadership, the organization has been working tirelessly to empower youth and women, promote skill development, foster patriotism, and drive clean and green initiatives to strengthen communities.
Born and raised in West Bengal, Sri Acharya Ajit Kumar completed his formal education there and holds a postgraduate degree in Management. A multilingual leader, he is deeply respected by his followers, who lovingly address him as “Guruji.” His core mission is to bring quantum change in the psyche of Indians, addressing not only social and economic development but also the spiritual awakening of people across both urban and rural India.
Over the last 30 years, Acharya Ji has been a visiting faculty and mentor for numerous academic institutions and corporate organizations in India and abroad. Known for his ability to unearth hidden potential, he specializes in mentoring, training, and motivating individuals to achieve personal and collective growth. A passionate life teacher, voracious reader, and gifted orator, he has traveled extensively across India and overseas, gaining deep insights into the value of Indian ethos and cultural heritage.
Through VDM-IOM, he has trained and inspired over 4,13,000 students, 35,000 teachers, and 84,000 families. The organization has set an ambitious goal to reach 10 lakh youth and 5 lakh families by 2029, believing that even 5% of these transformed individuals can play a pivotal role in building a stronger, progressive India.
Under his leadership, VDM-IOM has successfully transformed villages like Dhadeshwar in Karnataka and Veppal Gadda in Telangana from centers of economic poverty into self-sustaining, vibrant communities. Currently, he is leading similar transformation projects in M Hosahalli (Karnataka) and Pendurthi (Andhra Pradesh), continuing his lifelong mission of service to Mother India.
Sri B.D.V. Prasad Murty is a distinguished educationist, legal professional, and public policy expert with more than three decades of experience in government administration, social development, inclusive education, and child welfare. Sri Prasad Murty obtained his Postgraduate Degree in Sociology from Andhra University. He further strengthened his academic credentials by completing his Bachelor of Law (LL.B.) from the College of Law, Andhra University. He began his professional career as an Advocate and practiced law for nearly five years.
In 1994, he was selected by the AP State Public Service Commission and entered Government service in the Department of Welfare of Persons with Disabilities. Throughout his career, Sri Prasad Murty has consistently worked for the welfare, protection, and development of children and vulnerable groups. He served in the Education Department for nearly nine years, during which he played a significant role in planning and policy development for inclusive education. Owing to his strong legal background and drafting expertise, he was an important member of the committee involved in formulating the State Rules under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act (RTE Act). His contributions led to several innovative initiatives in inclusive education for Children with Special Needs, which positioned Andhra Pradesh as a leading state at the national level in implementing inclusive educational practices.
His commitment to child rights is further reflected in his extensive work towards the elimination of child labour during his tenure under programmes supported by the Ministry of Labour, Government of India, and UNICEF.
As Director in the Juvenile Welfare Department, Sri Prasad Murty played key role in drafting Rules for Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 for AP State. He worked closely with the Juvenile Justice Committee of the Hon’ble High Court of Andhra Pradesh and contributed significantly towards strengthening systems addressing children in need of care and protection.
Further extending his commitment towards social empowerment, while serving as Managing Director of the Andhra Pradesh State Women Finance Corporation, he worked extensively to promote economic and social empowerment of women belonging to vulnerable communities. Through convergence with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, he facilitated skill development initiatives aimed at enhancing employability and enabling women to break the cycle of poverty through sustainable livelihood opportunities.
